8 Things to Look Forward to in 2018

Whatever your plans are for 2018, make sure to keep an eye out for these eight things to look forward to!

1. SEQUELS

There are some movies that definitely deserve a sequel. While many are scheduled for release in 2018, below are some that seem worth a mention:

  • Incredibles 2
  • Solo: A Star Wars Story
  • Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald
  • Maze Runner: The Death Cure

2. MARVEL

If you’re a Marvel fan, this is your year! The release of Thor: Ragnarok last month was only the start. February 12th brings the release of Black Panther, followed by the long-anticipated Avengers: Infinity War, Deadpool, Ant-Man and the Wasp, X-Men: Dark Phoenix, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

3. Redheads finally get an emoji in June 2018

4. 2018 Winter Olympics 

Get ready to see your favourite skiers and ice skaters in Pyeongchang, South Korea, held between the 9th and 25th of February. GB’s team will be finalised by 24 January, although they are hoping to send about 60 athletes to beat their four medal record achieved in 1924 and 2014.

5. Remakes

 Some films are just worth a do-over, like Jumanji and Tomb Raider!

6. 2018 FIFA World Cup

The 21st FIFA World Cup will be held in Russia from 14th to 15th June 2018.

7. Women driving in Saudi Arabia

June 24th will be a historic day for the world and Saudi Arabia, where women will no longer need permission to drive and will be able to drive alone. This creates the conditions for more societal changes, especially as this was the last country in the world that banned women from driving!

8. Drones. Drones. And more drones.

2018 see’s drones left, right and centre. Amazon is looking to expand its drone operation in the U.K., with orders flown to your doorsteps. Google is also preparing to drone-deliver food from the skies in their development of ‘Project Wing’.
