Summer holidays, six weeks of boredom. Your friends are away, parents at work, the only company you have is Netflix. If this sounds all too familiar, then we have just the solution!
Manchester Unlimited and The Outward Bound Skills for Life Award is an opportunity to take part in an exhilarating adventure for 19 days in the summer. Packed with adrenalin-charged activities like rock climbing and rowing, you’ll also learn the skills to ace wilderness survival such as lighting fires, camping in the wild and building shelters!
You’ll be provided with opportunities to step outside your comfort zone and push your limits whilst making new friends from across the UK and around the world. With the support of mentors, you will tackle challenges head-on and develop key skills that employers are after; the ability to work in a team, communicate effectively and use your initiative.
Taking place across the UK, you may choose from one of three centres: From the golden beaches of Aberdovey in Wales to the wilds of Loch Eil in the Scottish Highlands and the mountains of Ullswater in the English Lake District. No matter which centre you choose, you’ll leave feeling more confident, determined, and better prepared for the challenges life throws at you.
The award lasts 19-days and runs from the end of June, throughout July and August and into the beginning of September. To be eligible to apply for funding you must be aged 15-19 and live in Greater Manchester, the deadline to apply is 22nd April 2018. You can find out more about funding, how to apply and additional information here.
Do more than you think this summer and develop your skills outside of the classroom!
