Living in Bolton and want to make a difference in your local community?
An ambitious campaign has been launched in Bolton to recruit 300 volunteers to help those sleeping rough over the winter period. Fronted by the ‘Bolton Homeless Alliance’ which is a partnership between Bolton Council, Bolton Council of Mosques (BCoM), Urban Outreach, Homeless Aid UK and Al-Khair Foundation, the group desperately need volunteers to help out at overnight shelters across the area.
The Alliance aims to help those who are at risk of rough sleeping or are sleeping rough. Despite, Urban Outreach providing an evening meal at the weekend to those who need it through their Winter Watch initiative, there isn’t currently any overnight provision. However, through the Bolton Homeless Alliance, BCoM and Urban Outreach will now open overnight shelters to provide a safe and warm place for any rough sleepers in the area – but they need volunteers to help run the shelters.
Full training will be given to all volunteers and applicants must be aged 18 plus and will be subject to a DBS check. For more information and to apply, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org. Not only will you be helping those in genuine need, by volunteering you’ll be gaining many valuable skills in return.
